Today we changed host families again. Since it was raining we did not go to climb the mountain for the last time. I must admit I was glad to get the extra sleep. It was hard to say goodbye to this family because I have become so attached to them in 4 days and I was also a little apprehensive about who my next family would be. We dropped Sunny off at work and then Jill and Adidas took me to the drop off. When we left the parking lot Jill and Judy were crying. Jill called me at my new host family tonight to say hi and that I was missed. She said her mom came home from work and went up to the guest room and was sad. She had taught her parents some phrases to say on the phone.
This morning we visited the legislative building and then toured two companies owned by the same Rotarian. One makes the metal rims for wheels and some other car parts. This afternoon we went into the mountains to go pipa picking. (I am not sure how to spell pipa but that is how it sounds. It is a fruit that is only grown in Taiwan. It was quite a sight to see us out there picking fruit in our suits. The fruit is wonderful. Then we headed to a secluded tea shop. The roads were crazy and I ended up car sick. So it was hard to enjoy the atmosphere and the aroma from the food made things worse.
We gave our first presentation as five strong. Our translator did not translate what we said but just read them the short highlights we had on the slides. Frustrating! Oh well at least we had a translator.
My new host family seems nice. Their daughter, Lisa, picked me up and took me for smoothies and stinky tofu at a little sidewalk. It smells awful and I can honestly say that I do not like it. I'm not a big tofu fan to begin with but if I did not eat fish and tofu I'd starve because they seem to be the staples (besides rice).

Isn't it crazy how you can get so attached to someone in just 4 days? I'm glad you had such a good time with the Adidas people. Extra sleep is good...we lost an hour due to daylight saving...totally screwed up the kids, YUCK! I don't like tofu myself. I hope you have fun with this family too! Keep blogging if you can.
