Today was filed with new and adventurous foods. Fish Eggs and Raw Fish are by far the ones that were out of my comfort zone and I thought that I would never try. But while you are in Taiwan eat what they eat. Other unusual things also on today's menu was red onion salad (thin slices of red onions with seaseme seeds, oil and vinager), star fruit, and oysters.
This morning we went on a tour of a manufacturing plant that makes values for water. Of course they gave us gifts (ties). Then we went to an elementary school. There are 20 kids in the kindergarten classes and two teachers. We had lunch at the school and the kids all liked to come and tell us "Hello". More gifts - a manicure set, tie slides and a big heavy book about their school (I'm not so sure that it will make it in the luggage home.)
This afternoon we went to a folk village. It discusses Tawain culture and a bunch of other stuff. Again the tour was in Chinese and we only had one lady with us who spoke English (but not as well as most of the others we have been with.) It was fun to see how they make rice noodles and Seth even got married. They needed a guy for their little play and of course all the women wanted Seth (the tall American) to participate. He was a great sport. They dressed him all up - it was a hoot. Then we attended a show - kind of like a circus minus the animals. They had two young girls, 7 or so, who were consortionists. It was just wrong what they could do with their bodies. Then a guy who could juggle on top of 4 rolling cans and other interesting acts.
More on the Kim update. Apparently she went to the passport office in Seattle and sat their until they issued her passport. I guess if you go in person and beg it can be done fast. Then purchased her own ticket. But she has to leave before all of us because there were no flights - so she is missing Rotary District Conference. This is really starting to annoy me because it means more explaining to people why she isn't there at the end along with another revised presentation.

Danielle,
I am so jealous. I don't think I will read your blog anymore.

Okay - just kidding, but how much fun! You totally have all the hookups. You get to see cool stuff, and you are totally taken care of! Other than the nasty fish crap you are eating it sounds like a blast! Keep more posts coming! Um, what is up with the whole Kim thing...WEIRD!
