Flat tire at -42

Yes, I got a flat tire today. Lucky me. The good thing is that Niki, one of the secretary's at my office only works until 3:30 p.m. When she left she noticed my tire was flat - so it was not a complete surprise at 5 p.m.

Bad news is that it is still cold outside and I had a million things to do tonight. (I had to cut a few of them). It was about -42 at 5 p.m. today. Of course, I would be wearing a skirt. But that is what the survival bag is for in the car. I threw on the sweatpants and helped Bob change my tire. What would I do without the wonderful people I work with? All I had to do was read the manual to figure out how to get the spare tire detached and bring tools and tires. Bob did the hard work. It took about 30 minutes in the dark and cold. I was frozen by the time were were done. Good thing my car does not have one of those donut tires - can you just imagine driving on that in the cold weather. It probably would not even take any weight and explode immediately.

I was tire #4 in the last week for Bob to change. Cars and tires just don't like the cold weather.

So sorry about the tire. At least you didn't have to lie down in the snow and ice. Sounds like Bob is a good guy to know.

Oh Danielle! A flat tire is terrible, and in subzero temperatures to boot. Perhaps you should consider taking mass transportation. WAIT! Are there enough people in Fairbanks to have mass transportation?

You would think an attorneys office would have covered parking! :)
